Officially, I am a robotics engineer, which really means that I solve problems that are robot related, meaning I love to work on robots. My love for robotics was sparked during my first year of high school when I joined my school’s FIRST robotics team. I then spent the next three years attending all the build and coding sessions I could, which allowed me to step into the presidency during my senior year.
I then blasted off to college to study computer engineering. Subsequently, I had a fantastic experience creating my senior project, the Smart Bike, where I could work on a solution that I was genuinely passionate about. After its completion, I was recognized and awarded for my performance during the senior design project.
However, my passion for robotics did not bottleneck but became more efficiently threaded. After graduation, I began working at the engineering and manufacturing company Compass System. After an internship phase, I immediately began working with a 6-DoF robotic arm conducting Non-Destructive Inspections (NDI). I was also the project lead on all hardware and software related to the robot and its sensors. As a result, I quickly became proficient in ROS and Python programming. In addition, I researched and implemented features focused on VR, computer vision, SLAM, LiDAR, 3D scanning, obstacle avoidance, NDI, and more!
I feel fortunate to be working with technologies as cutting edge as these, and I will continue to always put my best foot forward. Furthermore, a mentor once told me to always ask myself, “What’s next?” and I hope that what is next is a connection between myself and you.
